Snippets of Christmas

Now that Christmas has come and gone,  I have one more week of enjoying the decorations. I feel like the home will be so plain without the sparkle of Christmas decor but like all good things, it must come to an end. The Christmas spirit–the peace and joy that Jesus gives us–will never go away, so that is the best consolation prize ever.

Here are a few snippets of Christmas around the house for the last week they are up.

These *STUNNING* wings from Decor Steals are perfect for the season but will stay up all year because they’re just that gorgeous (and I have a thing for wings!)

A few of my favorite decor items around the home:

The family room is not in my modern farmhouse style so it has pops of red and graphic prints. I used my old, gold, skinny tree in there:

We went for a real tree this year–a grand fir–that fit perfectly near our huge clock:

And this crochet tree skirt was a meager $3 at the thrift store:

The dining table looked so heavenly with all the candles lit:

One of this year’s favorite DIY was my coffee filter wreath:

My mother-in-law kept this 40-year-old sled of the Hubs, which I used as a gift stand near the tree:

Speaking of gifts, I loved this year’s gift wrapping theme. Neutral paper with gift tags made by my Cricut:

And here’s a look at some of my favorite gifts I received:

Lastly, every year I do a family portrait with a concept I come up with and shoot myself…this year, I was late in getting our photo shoot together so we ended up doing a last-minute selfie which I sent to Costco to have printed. Here’s 2014‘s and 2013‘s.

I hope everyone had a wonderful time with their friends and family…I leave you with a visit from Rudolph in our backyard:

  1. I adore the backyard pic, particularly the very eye catching green ‘rhododendrons’ leaves (I suspect), hijacking spring in a record breaking warm winter. LOL!
Your family pictures are always gorgeous! Didn’t see ’13 & ’14 on the post!
Now that Christmas has slipped into memory, can’t wait to see what brightens up the ‘Farmed House’ next for this unusual, and climate changing winter!
