Christmas Decor with a Reason

Christmas decor is more than creating beautiful winter wonderlands with Santas and sleighs. The real meaning of Christmas is for us to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ so, for me, it’s important for my home to also reflect the “reason for the season”.

Even though I’m not the most “religious” person (I’ve always had a healthy personal relationship with God), I do adore religious artifacts and love to collect and display them this time of year (some of my favorites being the Black Madonna). Any time I get a new Virgin Mary, I typically paint their skin brown, like I did with this thrift store beauty (that later broke–yes, I’m crushed!).

In browsing for new additions to our new home’s Christmas decor, I thought I’d share some CHRISTmas goodies to help bring the reason for the season alive in your decor.

All photos are from the respective vendors’ sites, and no, I’m not getting paid to recommend them but I’m definitely down to receive some as gifts 🙂 ).

And this set, A Nativity Scene for the Home, from Wisteria is my favorite of them all!

Stars and Angels:

What’s Christmas without a star and angels? These wooden stars and angel tree toppers are available at this Etsy shop, Kentucky Reclaimed.

Oh, and if you’re creative enough, I’m sure you could find a way to incorporate this star jute rug from Pier 1 in your home:

Let these Band of Angels from Wisteria, announce the birth of Christ:

Interestingly enough, the Christmas carol,  Partridge in a Pear Tree is chock full of religious symbolism, with the partridge representing Jesus Christ.

Check out this set of partridges and a gilded camel ornament from One King’s Lane:

More than just a famous short story, the gifts that the Magi brought Baby Jesus (Gold, Myrrh and Frankincense) can be represented by this 3-Piece Fantasie Finial Decor Set  from Joss & Main.

I love the sacred heart (representing the heart of Jesus), so what better way to represent our Lord’s birth than with a Tin Sacred Heart on Stands from Antique Farm house:

Or these Set of 3 Sacred Hearts ornaments from Wisteria:

This Sacred Family Créche Triptych from Wisteria is a bit steep but oh-so-beautiful:

Have fun decorating for Jesus’ birthday!
