Chalkboard signs are no longer just for use in a classroom. I for one appreciate the ease with which I can create custom messaging in my home for any reason or season. Here’s a quick and easy DIY for making your own.
Pick up wood supplies from any arts and craft store (got this one from Michaels but you can always make your own wood slat or get a salvaged piece).
Chalkboard paint comes in a spray can or paint–I used the paint for this project, which must be applied vertically, dried for an hour, then horizontally, and cured for 24 hours. Lastly, chalk. I’ve tried the chalk markers but they don’t wipe off as easily, I’ve found, when it’s time for a new message. So plain chalk works just as well if you’re careful with the script.
And after some careful scripting…voila! The perfect message for Thanksgiving (and Christmas too).
